My approach to counselling and psychotherapy

From my background in psychology, I have trained and qualified in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy, which I integrate with contemporary research findings. I use the Relational approach within Transactional Analysis and focus on different aspects of how relating shapes our lives, experiences and a sense of self.

Depending on your aims, I see my role as helping you to reflect on your life and address issues and difficulties you experience.

The therapeutic relationship in this context offers an opportunity for both acceptance and challenge to support you in developing understanding and strategies.

As a therapist, I expect to work alongside you to both formulate the aims of the sessions and make decisions about our work together. I work from a private and comfortable consulting room in Godalming.

Confidentiality and Records

What we talk about in sessions is confidential within the professional and legal limits.  I use clinical supervision to support my work and may discuss our work in this confidential setting. I would normally seek your consent to contact other health professionals involved in your care. I keep brief clinical notes about our sessions.

Sessions and Fees

I offer fifty-minute weekly sessions for both time-focused counselling and longer term psychotherapy.

My sessional fee is currently £75 per session. Fees are payable by cash or cheque at each session, or by cash, cheque or BACS transfer on a four-session advance schedule. Once paid, fees are non-refundable. These fees are reviewed each year and I will inform you in advance of any changes.

If you do not attend a session for any reason, I will offer you alternative session times within the same working week, subject to availability. Otherwise, I require two working days notice for a cancellation. With any shorter notice, the full fee will be payable.
